Banana Cowboy

Banana Cowboy was a project developed as part of UT Austin's game capstone class. For the class, we were randomly assigned to a group of other inter-disiplinary students and tasked with creating a game over the course of the next 4 months of the semester. Our team contained 7 people; 2 programmers, 1 tech artist, 1 level designer, 1 sound designer, 1 animator, and 1 modeler. At the end of the semester, we chose to release the game to Steam for free, and recieved "Very Positive" reviews, sitting at currently 62 reviews. Due to the positive feedback, we followed the release up with the "Berry Good Update", an entirely new level with new AI and a new boss to defeat. The positive feedback also led us to the creation and development of Banana Cowboy: The Wild Bunch.

For the project, I acted as the scrum master, leading task assignment and review, as well as the player and systems programmer for the game. My contributions are as follows:

  • Team Lead and Scrum Master
  • Player Programming
  • Throwable objects and enemies
  • Gravity Zones
  • Blueberry and Strawberry enemy AI
  • Blueberry boss programming
  • Tutorial level layout and dialog
  • Swing points and button level elements
